Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has described corruption as a great monster that Nigeria must conquer before achieving any meaningful progress.
He made this statement during the celebration of the life of the former Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Justice Olayinka Ayoola (retd.).
Obasanjo emphasized that corruption is a significant challenge that Nigeria needs to overcome, and it’s not just about the efforts of individuals like Ayoola or himself, but rather a collective responsibility.
The Chief Judge of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, also paid tribute to Ayoola, highlighting his contributions to Nigeria and the legacy he left behind.
This is not the first time Obasanjo has spoken out against corruption. In his inaugural address in 1999, he pledged to stamp out corruption and ensure good governance.
