The Obidients movement has pledged to push stronger for the 2027 election, building on the momentum they gained during the 2023 election. At a recent conference in Asaba, Delta state, the group vowed to achieve even more than they did in 2023, with a focus on electoral reform and mobilizing Nigerian youths.
According to Chief Chris Biose, chairman of the Delta Obidient Elders’ Council, the movement’s success in 2023 was remarkable, with over 10 million votes garnered for Peter Obi within a few months of campaigning. Biose emphasized the need for the movement to work together as a team to achieve their objectives.
Keynote speaker Prof. Chris Nwaokobia described the Obidient Movement as a fire that ignited in Nigeria’s social and political space during the 2023 election. He urged the movement to start networking ahead of 2027 and to bring more people into the fold.
Peter Obi, who joined the conference via Zoom, highlighted the importance of early mobilization, emphasizing that the movement’s theme, “Reawakening and Harmonising the Obidient Movement for a New Nigeria,” is particularly timely given the current economic challenges in the country.
