Isheri Estate Community, Ogun State, Nigeria – Residents are on high alert after hoodlums looted an evacuated building in the area, sparking panic and concerns about security.
On Monday night, three hoodlums broke into a building inside Riverview Estate, prompting a chase by the security guard. One suspect was apprehended and detained, while others escaped, abandoning looted items.
“I was on my balcony when I heard the security guard shouting ‘thief, thief’. I joined the chase, but returned due to safety concerns,” said Abayomi Akinde, Chairman of Riverview Estate.
The arrested suspect, who was badly injured while fleeing through the flooded area, is being held pending the return of the building owner.
Residents have increased security measures, with some returning to check on their properties and others making calls to ascertain the safety of their homes.
