Ogun State Police Command has arrested a man, Ogidan Mustapha, for allegedly severing the hands of his neighbor’s 13-year-old daughter, Oriyomi Adegboyega, after her death from electrocution.
Mustapha was apprehended at 1:30 am on Friday while attempting to dump the corpse near Igbosoro River in Igode village. The police found the deceased wrapped in a mat.
Three other suspects were arrested for assisting in digging the grave. A search of Mustapha’s house uncovered:
– Two English pump action rifles
– Local charms
According to Police Spokesperson Omolola Odutola, Oriyomi’s mother, Peace Adegboyega, reported that her daughter died from electrocution at 10:20 am on Thursday.
Mustapha denied severing the girl’s hands but admitted carrying the corpse at the request of Oriyomi’s father, Sunday Adegboyega.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
