A student of Rufus Giwa Polytechnic in Owo, Ondo State, identified as Oluwaseun, was hacked to death by unknown assailants on Monday. The victim, a new student in the Department of Mass Communication, was killed at Opomulero Street in Owo, just a few weeks into his academic journey.
According to a fellow student, Oluwaseun had been on campus for barely two months and also pursued music alongside his studies. The Police Public Relations Officer for Ondo State, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the incident but said more details would be provided later.
The incident has sparked reactions from the online community, with many attributing the killing to cultism. Some commenters expressed sadness and shock at the incident, while others called for an end to cultism.
