A prophetess, Folashade Adekola, has been arrested by the Ondo State Police Command in connection with the deaths of a woman, Jumoke Adesuwa, and her newborn during childbirth at her church in Akure.
The incident occurred due to complications during delivery, leading to Adesuwa’s severe bleeding and the immediate death of the newborn.

- Childbirth Complications: Adesuwa delivered at the prophetess’ church in Oke-Aro, Akure, but suffered severe bleeding.
- Newborn’s Death: The baby died immediately after birth.
- Family Notification: The church informed Adesuwa’s husband of the childbirth, prompting him to rush to the church.
- Hospital Rejection: Adesuwa was rejected by three hospitals due to her critical condition and later passed away.
- Police Report: The family reported the incident at Oke-Aro Police Station, leading to Adekola’s arrest.
Investigation and Aftermath:
The Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Funmilayo Odunlami, confirmed the arrest and stated that Adekola is being held at the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for further investigation. Adesuwa’s remains have been deposited at a mortuary.
