Tragedy struck in Ifetedo community, Ife South Local Government Area of Osun State, yesterday evening when a dilapidated building collapsed, killing one woman.
The deceased, identified as Mrs. Idowu, was reportedly near the building when it collapsed around 5:30 pm.
Rescue operations were swiftly initiated by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), but unfortunately, Mrs. Idowu succumbed to her injuries before help could arrive.
Confirming the incident, NSCDC spokesperson Kehinde Adeleke said, “Officers and men of NSCDC Ife South division rushed to the site for rescue operation, but unfortunately, the woman passed on. The site has since been cordoned off, and the body recovered.”
An investigation into the cause of the building collapse is ongoing.
