Osun Monarch, 4 Others Held in Prison Over Arson, Destruction Charges

 

Elegbedi of Egbedi, Oba Muideen Azeez, and four others were remanded in Ife correctional centre on Thursday for failing to meet bail conditions related to alleged arson, destruction of farm and crops worth N200m, and robbery.

 

The five defendants – Oba Muideen Azeez, Akibu Abioye, Yisa Akolapi, Rasidi Ayandiran, and Sarafadeen Abioye – faced 29 counts, including:

 

– Arson

– Destruction of farmland

– Illegal possession of firearms

– Robbery

 

Justice Kudirat Akano of Osun High Court granted them bail in the sum of N5 million with two sureties each, who must be:

– Level 16 civil servants

– Owners of landed property within the state

However, they failed to perfect their bail, leading to their detention.

 

Key Witness Testimony

Mustafa Waheed, one of the four witnesses, alleged that Oba Muideen Azeez attacked him with a cutlass after destroying his farmland in Iloba, in the presence of security operatives.

 

Case Adjournment

Justice Kudirat Akano adjourned the case until October 16 for continuation of hearing.
