The Osun State Police Command has arrested seven individuals, including two mortuary attendants, for allegedly selling human parts and water used to bathe corpses.
The arrests were made following credible information that Johnson Daniel, a 43-year-old mortuary attendant, was selling human remains to native doctors. Daniel and fellow mortuary attendant Adetunji Okunade, 42, were taken into custody along with Olaniyan Azeez, Balogun Temitope, Oladapo Hammed, Kazeem Rasaq, and Asaka Rauf.
A search of the suspects’ residences yielded disturbing evidence, including fragments of substances suspected to be a human skull, a female pant, and a notebook containing instructions on ritual practices.
In a separate incident, three individuals – Oluwafemi Fagbuyi, Joy Faseyiku, 63, and Alabede Janet, 64 – were arrested for promoting the Yoruba Nation in the state. Fagbuyi was apprehended after addressing a crowd at Obada Market in Ikire, urging them to renounce their allegiance to Nigeria.
The suspects have been charged and are awaiting trial. The Osun State Police Command has assured the public that investigations are ongoing and urged anyone with information to come forward.
