The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic loss of lives in the Niger tanker explosion, which claimed the lives of over 30 people. Obi took to social media to condole with the affected families and the government and people of Niger State.
He stated, “I am pained by the loss of human lives, and other means of livelihood in this tragic event. I thank the safety and emergency agencies that arrived at the scene for search and rescue operations.”
Obi also commiserated with the government and people of Oyo State, who suffered a similar tanker explosion less than 24 hours earlier. He prayed for God to comfort the affected families and grant eternal rest to the deceased.
The Niger tanker explosion occurred in Agaie Local Government Area, resulting in the loss of 30 lives and 50 cattle, with many more injured.
The incident has sparked widespread condemnation and calls for improved safety measures to prevent such tragedies.
