The Petroleum Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has blamed the poor distribution of petroleum products from the Port Harcourt Refinery on the bad state of the East-West Road. Specifically, PETROAN has expressed concerns over the slow pace of work by Reynolds Construction Company (RCC) on the Eleme section of the East-West Road.
According to PETROAN’s National President, Dr. Billy Harry, over 60 retail outlets are affected by the poor condition of the road, which is sabotaging President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to ensure smooth distribution of petroleum products. The association is requesting adequate compensation for owners of those filling stations.
The East-West Road is a critical route for the transportation of petroleum products, and its safety is paramount. PETROAN has also urged the government to expedite the completion of the road project to ensure uninterrupted distribution of petroleum products.
In related news, retailers are set to begin loading petroleum products from the Port Harcourt Refinery this week, following the refinery’s resumption of operations in November.
