Petrol Tanker Explosion Rocks Osun Community, Causes Gridlock 

 

A petrol tanker exploded in Osun State, Nigeria, on Saturday, causing tension in the Ijabe community. The incident occurred around noon when the tanker, heading towards Kwara State, suddenly caught fire. Fortunately, there were no reported casualties, but the fire caused a significant gridlock, forcing commuters to take alternative routes.

Men from the Fire Service and some residents joined efforts to extinguish the fire. The cause of the fire outbreak is still unknown, but it’s caused panic among locals, travellers, and farmers in the area.

This incident bears resemblance to previous tanker explosions in Nigeria, such as the 2000 Ibadan petrol tanker explosion, which killed over 100 people and destroyed numerous vehicles.
