Police Arrest Six Suspected Kidnappers in Edo, Recover Arms and Cash

 

The Edo State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers, recovering arms and ammunition in the process [1]. The arrests were made in several places in Edo North, which has seen a surge in kidnappings and killings over the past three weeks.

 

Key Arrests and Recoveries:

  • Three Initial Suspects: Jamilu Idris (20), Usman Shuaibu (24), and Yahuza Usman (20) were arrested with a Beretta pistol, dagger, and Infinix phone.
  • Additional Arrests: Adamu Usman, Iliyasu Abubakar (19), and Safiyanu Mohammed (20) were later arrested, with N1,345,100 in cash, micro sim cards, machete, dagger, phones, and a pack of cigarettes recovered.
  • Investigation Ongoing: The police are investigating the suspects’ involvement in kidnapping and armed robbery, including motorcycle snatching.

 

The Commissioner of Police, Betty Otimenyin, assured the public of the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, vowing to bring perpetrators to justice.
