A fierce gun battle between police and bandits in Benue State has resulted in the deaths of 12 bandits and one police officer, Inspector Terfa Anyiatse.
The encounter occurred when Operation Zenda Joint Task force members were on their way to a criminal hideout in Buruku Local Government Area.
The police successfully countered the ambush with superior firepower, neutralizing the gang. Items recovered from the bandits include three AK-47 rifles, six rounds of live ammunition, camouflage uniforms, and assorted charms.
Unfortunately, Inspector Anyiatse sustained a gunshot injury and was confirmed dead by a doctor.
