A Nigerian artiste, Efemena Richard, has come forward with shocking allegations of police extortion at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
The Incident
Richard claimed that police officers attached to the Beesam Police Station, near the airport, demanded $10,000 from him before allowing him to catch his flight. When he refused, they allegedly forced him to transfer N1 million from his account.

Richard provided evidence, including:
- Video recordings of the incident
- Photographs of the officers’ fingerprints
- Documents signed under duress
Reaction
The Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has ordered an investigation into the matter, instructing the Lagos Police Command PRO, Benjamin Hundeyin, and the Airport Command PRO to take action.
