Police Smash Child Trafficking Syndicate, Rescue 17 Children, Arrest 4 Suspects in Rivers State

 

The Rivers State Police Command has achieved a significant breakthrough in combating child trafficking, rescuing 17 children and arresting four suspects involved in the illicit trade. The police acted on intelligence gathering and tips from residents, leading to the successful operation.

In one incident, 16 children were rescued from a compound in Ozuoba Community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, where a woman had been noticed bringing in different children. The police transferred the case to the Commissioner of Police Monitoring Unit for further investigation.

In a related development, the police rescued a one-year-old baby and arrested three suspects, including Polycarp Uzoma, who allegedly sold the baby for N1,400,000. The baby has been reunited with the mother, who is receiving medical treatment.

The Rivers State Police Command has demonstrated its commitment to combating child trafficking and ensuring the safety of vulnerable individuals. The successful operation is a testament to the effectiveness of intelligence gathering and community collaboration in fighting crime.
