A devastating rainstorm hit Mayigi Community Comprehensive High School in Ilase, Ipokia Local Government Area of Ogun State, destroying the school building and claiming the life of a 14-year-old student, Timothy Amosun.
Five other students, two teachers, a food vendor, and her seven-month-old child were injured in the incident.
Response and Relief Efforts:
- Governor’s Condolence: Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, commiserated with the victims’ families, describing the incident as a “rude shock” and “very pathetic”.
- Medical Assistance: The governor directed that the government would cover the medical bills of the injured, ensuring they receive maximum medical attention.
- Rebuilding Efforts: The Commissioner for Education has been directed to visit the affected families and the school to assess the damage and plan for rebuilding.
