A combined effort by the Department of State Services (DSS), the Army, Nigerian Air Force, and other security agencies has led to the arrest of a top Indigenous People of Biafra (IPoB) commander and the elimination of Boko Haram terrorists in Niger State.
According to a security operative, the IPoB commander was arrested in Ebonyi State based on credible information that he was recruiting mercenaries for a major attack. The operative declined to release the commander’s name, citing ongoing investigations.
The operation also resulted in the recovery of 600 rounds of ammunition and other dangerous weapons. Additionally, security agents collaborated with the Nigerian Air Force to target Boko Haram terrorists and bandits who attacked Bassa-Kukoki village in Niger State, killing many terrorists and bandits.
In another operation, the DSS intercepted a wooden barge containing 37,000 liters of stolen crude oil in Delta State and arrested five suspects. The security agency has vowed to tackle increasing threats to national security in collaboration with sister agencies.
