A devastating attack by suspected armed herdsmen has left seven people dead and several others injured in Naka community, Gwer West Local Government Area of Benue State.
The early morning raid, which occurred on Tuesday, has sent shockwaves through the community, with many residents fleeing their homes in fear of another attack.
According to eyewitnesses, the herdsmen, who had been grazing their cattle on the community’s farmlands, stormed the town on motorbikes and began shooting indiscriminately at people’s homes.
The attack, which was described as “unprovoked,” forced residents out of their sleep and into a desperate bid for survival.
The police have yet to release a statement on the incident, but the community is in a state of panic, with many calling for increased security measures to protect them from further attacks.
