Soldiers Wreak Havoc in Okuama Community, Kill Three Youths, Loot Shops

A devastating invasion occurred in Okuama community, leaving a trail of destruction and death. Armed men in military fatigue stormed the community in four gunboats and 11 speedboats, shooting indiscriminately and killing three youths: Ojeh Asah, Uwhubunor James, and Enavwodo Peter.

The soldiers also looted provision stores, destroyed property, and towed away a large granite canoe, a sand dredger, and generating sets. This incident follows the arrest of community leaders and the razing of the community in March 2024.

Eyewitnesses described the horror, stating that the soldiers came in with drones, gunboats, and speedboats, shooting sporadically and destroying houses. The community is still reeling from the trauma, and the arrested leaders remain in unknown detention.

The Okuama people have instituted legal action, seeking N200m for illegal detentions without trials. The incident has sparked outrage, with demands for justice and an investigation into the military’s actions.
