A 20-year-old tailor, Ahmad Garba, was sentenced to three months in prison by a Jos Magistrates’ Court for stealing six shirts and six trousers. The magistrate, Shawomi Bokkos, gave Garba the option to pay a N10,000 fine instead of serving time.
Garba pleaded guilty to the charge after the prosecutor, Insp. Ijuptil Thiawur, presented the case. According to Thiawur, Garba trespassed into the complainant’s house and stole the items, violating the Plateau Penal Code Law.
The prosecutor told the court that the case was reported on November 17 at the “C” Division Police station by Usman Mohammed. Thiawur said that the convict was caught after he broke into the complainant’s house and stole the clothes.

In his judgment, Magistrate Bokkos emphasized the importance of respecting other people’s property and adhering to the law. He encouraged Garba to reflect on his actions and make amends.
The sentence serves as a warning to would-be thieves in Jos, emphasizing the consequences of criminal behavior.
