An 18-year-old girl, Habibat Akinsanya, was found dead on her father’s farm in Obasa, Abeokuta, Ogun State, with multiple machete wounds and signs of sexual assault. Her hands were bound behind her back.
The police are investigating the murder as premeditated and have identified a primary suspect, Onyeka, who worked for the victim’s father. Onyeka allegedly lured Habibat to the farm under false pretenses, then raped and murdered her.
The victim’s father, Shamsuddeen, had reported her missing on August 31, after she failed to return home from her sister’s Point of Sale business. The police are currently searching for Onyeka, who is at large.
The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed that an investigation is underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding the murder. The police are working to apprehend the suspect and bring them to justice.
