At least 50 people were killed in terrorist attacks in Borno and Nasarawa states on Sunday night.
Borno State Attack:
- 40 farmers and fishermen were killed in the Dumba community of Baga town.
- The attack occurred in an area prone to nocturnal attacks by marauding terrorists and contaminated with landmines.
- Governor Babagana Umara Zulum condemned the attack and called on the military to track and neutralize the perpetrators.
Nasarawa State Attack:
- 10 people were killed in Tatara village in the Panda development area.
- The attack was unprovoked, and eyewitnesses reported that the terrorists arrived on motorcycles and started shooting sporadically.
- The killers were reportedly from nearby villages or terrorists fleeing from Zamfara and Katsina states.
These attacks are part of the ongoing insurgency in Nigeria, particularly in the northeastern region. Boko Haram, a jihadist terrorist organization, has been responsible for numerous attacks and killings in the region.
