TikTok Cracks Down on Harmful Content in Nigeria

 

Over 2.1 Million Videos Removed in Q2 2024

 

TikTok has intensified its efforts to maintain a safe and positive user experience in Nigeria, removing an impressive 2.1 million videos from its platform in the second quarter of 2024. This move is part of the company’s ongoing commitment to enforce its Community Guidelines.

 

Key Highlights:

  •  99.1% of removed videos were taken down proactively, before user reports
  • 90.7% of violative content removed within 24 hours
  • Less than 1% of total uploaded videos in Nigeria were removed

 

Globally, TikTok’s Content Moderation Efforts:

  •  178 million videos removed in June 2024
  • 144 million videos removed automatically
  • Global proactive detection rate stands at 98.2%

 

TikTok’s Advanced Content Moderation Technology:

  •  Invests in AI-powered content understanding and risk assessment
  • Reduces exposure to harmful material for users and moderators

 

“Our goal is to provide a safe and inclusive platform for our Nigerian users,”_ said a TikTok spokesperson.
