President Bola Tinubu is set to host Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, marking a significant moment in Nigeria-India relations.
This visit is particularly notable as it’s the first by an Indian Prime Minister since Dr. Manmohan Singh’s visit in 2007, which established a strategic partnership between the two nations.
During his stay, Modi and Tinubu will engage in high-level bilateral discussions focused on enhancing collaboration in critical sectors such as:
Trade: Strengthening economic ties and increasing trade between the two countries
Technology: Collaboration in IT infrastructure development and digital economy growth
Security: Enhancing cooperation in security and defense
Education: Partnership in education and cultural exchange programs
Both leaders are expected to sign several Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) that will serve to deepen cooperation and foster mutual growth in areas like renewable energy, agriculture, and information technology.
This visit is aimed at bolstering economic and cultural ties between Nigeria and India, with India being one of Nigeria’s largest trading partners.
