Tragedy Hits Lagos: Truck Crushes 2 Students, Tricycle Rider

Lagos witnessed two fatal accidents on Monday, claiming at least three lives, including two students, in separate locations.

 

First Incident: Ayeyoro Traffic Light, Epe

  •  A truck suffered brake failure, crashing into a tricycle and a stationary Toyota Camry.
  • The truck then veered off the road, hitting the Ayetoro Market Complex.
  •  Two Manpower Technical School students and the tricycle driver lost their lives.

 

LASTMA Response

  •  General Manager Olalekan Bakare-Oki confirmed the accident occurred around midday.
  •  LASTMA and FRSC officials responded quickly to secure the area.
  •  Bodies were transferred to Epe General Hospital Mortuary.

 

Second Incident: Ijaye, Abule-Egba

  •  An LT Bus and Toyota Hiace Bus collided due to brake failure.
  •  LASTMA personnel rescued the driver and two passengers, rushing them to a nearby hospital.

 

Third Incident: Tsunami Bridge, Ketu

  •  A multi-vehicle collision involved two Volkswagen buses and a DAF truck.
  •  LASTMA officers rescued three individuals, transporting them to a local hospital.

 

LASTMA Urges Vehicle Maintenance

  •  Bakare-Oki emphasized regular maintenance checks to prevent such incidents.
  •  Motorists must ensure vehicles are in optimal condition before embarking on journeys.

 

The Lagos State Government has been urged to take measures to prevent such accidents and ensure road safety.
