A devastating lone accident occurred at Oye-Agu Market, Abagana in Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra, resulting in the loss of a young girl’s life. The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander, Mrs. Joyce Alexander, confirmed the incident, which happened on Wednesday.
According to Alexander, the probable cause of the accident was brake failure and loss of control. The crash involved a commercial Toyota Sienna with registration number NEN588YX, belonging to Transport Company of Anambra State (TRACAS), driven by Eze Uchechukwu.
Seven people were involved in the crash, including a male adult, three female adults, and three female children. Unfortunately, one female child lost her life, while six others sustained injuries. The injured victims were taken to Urban Hospital and Maternity for medical attention, and the deceased was deposited at the morgue.
The FRSC Sector Commander expressed condolences to the family of the deceased and urged motorists to regularly service their vehicles and comply with safety standards. She also warned market women to avoid displaying wares or selling by the roadside, emphasizing the importance of road safety.
