TRAGEDY STRIKES IN BORNO: CANOE ACCIDENT CLAIMS FOUR LIVES

 

 

A devastating canoe accident in Borno State, Nigeria, has resulted in the loss of four precious lives – a woman and her three children.

 

The tragedy occurred on September 23, 2024, when a canoe carrying passengers submerged in floodwaters between Dikwa and Mafa Local Government Areas.

 

 

Victims:

– Ya Mallum Shettima (adult female)

– Maimuna Akura (10 years old)

– Umira Alhaji Bulama (6 years old)

– Yagana Bulama Kawu (5 months old)

 

The bodies were recovered and taken to Dikwa General Hospital, where they were confirmed dead and later released to their families for burial.

 

Borno State Police Command Commissioner, CP ML Yusufu, expressed heartfelt condolences to the grieving families and urged caution among residents in flood-affected areas.

 

This tragic incident follows a recent warning from the Police Command about the devastating effects of the flood in Dikwa and Mafa.
