Tragedy Strikes in Lagos: 4 Soldiers Feared Dead, Others Injured in Accident

 

A devastating incident occurred in the early hours of Friday, January 31, 2025, in the Morocco area of Shomolu, Lagos. Four soldiers attached to the Myoung Barracks are feared dead, and several others were injured after a suspected drunk driver rammed into them during their monthly road jogging exercise.

Eyewitness Account

According to an eyewitness, Priscilla, who lives in the area, the driver of a Toyota vehicle, occupied by three young men, was speeding before crashing into the soldiers. The occupants attempted to flee the scene but were apprehended and beaten by the soldiers. One of the young men was reportedly stabbed.

Investigation Ongoing

The incident has caused panic among residents in the area. The Lagos State Police Command and the Nigerian Army have launched an investigation into the incident. As of the time of filing this report, the Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division, Olabisi Ayeni, and the spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, have yet to comment on the incident.
