Tragedy Strikes Lagos: Three Lives Lost in Devastating Road Accident

 

A tragic road accident occurred on Sunday afternoon at PZ Junction, Odogunyan, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, claiming three lives and leaving one person injured and another reported missing.

Key Points:

1. Accident Cause: Recklessness of a truck driver transporting twin 20-foot containers loaded with goods.
2. Time and Location: 1:55 p.m. at PZ Junction, Odogunyan, Ikorodu, Lagos.
3. Casualties: Three dead, one injured, and one missing.
4. Response: Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) coordinated rescue efforts.

The accident involved an articulated truck that lost control, veered off the road, and crashed into a parked containerized truck. The impact caused destruction and casualties, with five adult males trapped under the parked truck and surrounding debris.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the incident, emphasizing the importance of adhering to safety regulations, especially for drivers of articulated vehicles.

Residents and shop owners expressed shock and grief, urging stricter enforcement of traffic regulations to prevent such incidents.
