A tragic incident occurred in Ogun State, Nigeria, where a 31-year-old man, Sunday Jimoh, drowned in a well while trying to retrieve his phone that had fallen in.¹ The incident happened on February 22, 2025, around 10:00 am in the Laditan area of Oja-Odan.
According to the Ogun State Police Command, Jimoh ignored warnings not to enter the well and eventually drowned. The police received the report from an eyewitness, Kabiru Aladeshayi Ayigbere, who saw Jimoh attempting to enter the well beside his shop.
The police have confirmed that the incident was an unfortunate accident, with no signs of violence. The family of the deceased has been notified, and they have requested to bury the remains in accordance with Muslim rites. The Ogun State Police Command has expressed its condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased, urging the public to exercise caution when dealing with hazardous situations.
