Grace Afangideh, a 25-year-old National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, met her untimely death in a horrific auto crash while traveling to her orientation camp in Ebonyi State. Despite her fears of road accidents and kidnapping, fate had other plans, cutting short a life filled with promise and dreams.
A determined and brilliant individual, Grace had graduated with good grades from the University of Calabar, studying English and Literary Studies. She was her family’s beacon of hope, expected to lift them out of hardship and into a life of ease.
Grace’s journey to the NYSC camp began with a flight from Lagos to Enugu, followed by a road trip to Ebonyi State. Tragically, the vehicle she was traveling in collided with another, claiming her life just 30 minutes into the journey.
Her family, who had been anxiously waiting to hear from her, was left shattered by the news. The NYSC has since sent her death certificate to her parents and is processing her death benefits.
