A devastating single-vehicle crash occurred on the Abeokuta-Sango-Lagos road in Ogun State, resulting in the deaths of two children and injuring seven others. The incident happened on Saturday at around 11 pm near Kere, Itori, and involved a white Toyota Camry with registration number AGL36JA.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), the accident was caused by excessive speed and overloading. The vehicle was carrying a total of nine passengers, including seven male adults, one male child, and one female child. The two children lost their lives in the crash, while the others sustained various injuries.
The injured victims were rushed to Ifo General Hospital, where they are receiving medical attention. The bodies of the deceased were also deposited at the same hospital.
The Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwumi Fasakin, condemned the accident and urged motorists to avoid overloading their vehicles, emphasizing that it is dangerous and contravenes traffic regulations. He also extended his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
