Tragic Auto Crash in Ibadan Claims 6 Lives, Injures 5

 

A devastating auto accident occurred on Monday at Oke Eleshin, Amuloko, along Akanran Road in Ibadan, resulting in six fatalities and five injuries.

 

Accident Details:

  •  Collision between a trailer transporting tiles and a lorry loaded with soft drinks
  • Brake failure caused trailer to lose control, crashing into a tricycle (Keke NAPEP)
  • Second lorry attempted to avoid collision, striking another Keke NAPEP
  • Four vehicles damaged, including two articulated vehicles and two tricycles

 

Casualties:

  • Six people killed
  • Five injured, including a pupil who lost their mother in the crash
  • Two primary school children treated as outpatients
  • Two individuals with severe injuries admitted for further treatment

 

Response and Aftermath:

  •  Multiple security agencies responded, including Operation Burst, OYRTMA, Police, Road Safety officials, Amotekun, and local vigilantes
  • Traffic congestion forced passengers to abandon vehicles and walk
  • Sympathisers prevented from damaging vehicles, expressed frustration at drivers who fled
