Tragic End for Transformer Vandals: Man Electrocuted in Lagos

 

A tragic incident occurred on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi, Lagos, on September 1, 2024, when an unidentified man was electrocuted while attempting to vandalize a PHCN transformer. The incident happened at around 4:02 AM, and the man died instantly.

 

According to the Lagos State Police Command, a security officer witnessed the event and alerted the police. The Anti-Crime Patrol team was dispatched to the scene, and an investigation was conducted. The PHCN office was also notified.

 

The police spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident and warned against acts of vandalism, particularly those involving high-voltage electrical equipment. He emphasized the dangers of such activities and urged residents to report any suspicious activities to the authorities.

 

The body of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary, and efforts are being made to identify him and notify his next of kin.
