A tragic road accident occurred on the Damaturu-Maiduguri highway in Yobe State, resulting in the loss of 10 lives and injuring three others. The incident happened at a checkpoint in Warsala town around 3 pm on Tuesday when a truck loaded with cement and passengers lost control, rammed into a Sharon car, and plunged into a ditch.
According to eyewitnesses, the truck’s passengers were thrown off the vehicle, leading to the tragic loss of life. The injured passengers were rushed to the Specialists Hospital in Damaturu for treatment.
The Public Relations Officer for the Yobe State Police Command, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation is ongoing. This incident is a stark reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for caution while driving.
In another recent incident, 12 people lost their lives in a road accident along the Baimari-Geidam route in Yobe State. These tragic events highlight the need for increased awareness and measures to prevent road accidents in the region.
