US Congressman Scott Perry has made a shocking claim that USAID, a US aid agency, has funded terrorist organizations, including Boko Haram. Perry, a Republican from Pennsylvania, made this allegation during a hearing of the Subcommittee on Delivering on Government Efficiency, citing that USAID has provided $697 million annually to groups linked to terrorism.
Perry also questioned the effectiveness of USAID’s programs, mentioning a $136 million project to build 120 schools in Pakistan, which he claims has no evidence of completion. He further criticized programs like the Women’s Scholarship Endowment and Young Women Lead, alleging that they are not benefiting women in Afghanistan as intended, but instead funding terrorism.
These allegations have sparked controversy, with US President Donald Trump previously calling for the closure of USAID, accusing the agency of corruption. Elon Musk, appointed by Trump to lead the Department of Government Efficiency, has also criticized USAID, labeling it a “viper’s nest of radical-left Marxists who hate America”.
