Victims of Anambra Stampede Buried Amidst Tears

 

The victims of the Christmas rice distribution stampede in Okija, Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State, have been laid to rest. The tragic incident, which occurred on December 21, 2024, claimed the lives of at least 21 people, mostly women and children.

  •  The inter-denominational burial service was held at St. Mary’s Field, Okija, and was attended by families of the victims, survivors, community members, and notable personalities.
  •  The Obijackson Foundation, alongside the royal palace of the Okija community, organized the event.
  •  The Very Rev. Donald Chukwudolue and the Bishop of Ihiala Diocese, Anglican Communion, Rt. Ralph Okafor, delivered sermons, urging the families of the victims to seek consolation in God.
  •  Chief Ernest Azudialu-Obiejesi, the Founder of the Obijackson Foundation, expressed his deepest condolences to the families of the victims and the entire Okija community.
  •  The traditional ruler of the community, Emeka Okezie, urged the foundation to continue its philanthropic gestures, which have positively impacted the community.
